SHIRLEY, NY — A Long Island man pleaded guilty at the federal courthouse in Central Islip on Friday to theft of medical products from his employer, Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. / American Regent in Shirley. When sentenced, Gregory Settino, 58, of Bethpage faces up to 20 years in prison, restitution to his former employer, and a fine of up to $250,000. Read more

Targeted killing on Long Island

SELDEN, NY — A Selden man was targeted when he was shot and killed sitting in the passenger seat of a moving car in Central Islip, Suffolk County Police announced. Police said Rahsaan Pressley, 27, has been identified as the murder victim. Read more

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Five mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus across Suffolk County from samples collected last week, health officials announced Thursday evening. Closest to the Sachem area, samples in Bay Shore and Brentwood tested positive from this latest round of tests. The first positive within Sachem came from a Holtsville sample collected in mid-July and a second sample tested positive from neighboring North Patchogue during the following week. Read more
