Police officers help deliver baby boy in Centereach last night

CENTEREACH, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — A Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct officer helped deliver a baby in Centereach last night.

Officer Jessica Proios responded to a 911 call of a woman in labor on Hammond Road near Nicolls Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. Police said the mother was on her way to the hospital, but the baby did not want to wait.

Silvering, 37, of Oakdale, and her newborn were transported by Centereach Fire Department Ambulance to Saint Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson in good condition.
