Sayville man, 73, killed by an alleged wrong-way drunk driver: Suffolk Police

OAKDALE, NY AND SAYVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — A 73-year-old Sayville man was killed overnight by an alleged wrong-way drunk driver on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, according to Suffolk County Police. 

Shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, police identified the victim as Dominick Capizola. Police initially did not release the man’s identity pending notification of next of kin. 

The accident scene was near Exit 48 in the vicinity of Starbucks, Giunta's Meat Farms and Capital One Bank.

“Noel Pastora was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, west of Locust Avenue, in Oakdale when his vehicle struck an eastbound sedan at 1:49 a.m.,” police said. “The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.” 

The victim was later identified as Capizola. 

Pastora, 56, of 140 Front St., Apt. 2, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held at the Fifth Precinct in Patchogue and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.

Alleged wrong-way drunk driver kills man on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale: Suffolk Police

OAKDALE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — A man is dead after being struck and killed by an alleged wrong-way drunk driver on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, according to Suffolk County Police.

Shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday, police announced the arrest of a Hempstead man for allegedly driving drunk and causing the fatal crash overnight.

“Noel Pastora was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, west of Locust Avenue, in Oakdale when his vehicle struck an eastbound sedan at 1:49 a.m.,” police said. “The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and his identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.”
