Selden man murdered in Central Islip

SELDEN, NY ( / — A Selden man was targeted when he was shot and killed sitting in the passenger seat of a moving car in Central Islip, Suffolk County Police announced.

“Detectives believe the vehicle’s occupants were targeted,” Suffolk Police said Sunday of the late-night Saturday shooting.

Police said Rahsaan Pressley, 27, of Selden was killed in the targeted attacked.

According to police, the killing happened as a woman was driving a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Carleton Avenue, near Hoppen Drive, in Central Islip at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday when the occupant of another vehicle fired shots into the car.

The gunman’s bullets struck Pressley, who was in the front passenger seat, and a 24-year-old woman in the backseat, police said.

Pressley was taken to Southside Hospital — recently renamed South Shore University Hospital — in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. The female passenger was also transported to Southside Hospital where she was treated and released. The driver was not injured.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
