Police rescue kitten from storm drain - Video

PORT JEFFERSON STATION / TERRYVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Suffolk County Police officers rescued a kitten that had fallen into a storm drain in Terryville this evening.

Officers from the Sixth Precinct in Selden responded to 39 Clymer Street at about 6 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a kitten had fallen into a storm drain. The officers notified the Emergency Service Section.

Emergency Service Section Officer Michael Viruet climbed into the drain and rescued the kitten. The rescue came as Tropical Storm Fay brought periods of heavy rainfall to Long Island. 

The kitten was adopted by a local resident once removed from the drain.
