Woman killed standing by disabled car on L.I.E.

YAPHANK, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a woman standing near her disabled car in Yaphank early Saturday morning.

Danyel Anderson was driving a 2015 Chrysler 300 eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, west of Exit 66, when the Chrysler struck a woman standing outside a disabled 2012 Nissan Altima that was in the right lane, at approximately 3:10 a.m., according to police. 

"The victim, who has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene," police wrote in a statement.

Anderson, 20, of Mastic, and a front passenger in the Chrysler, Ja-Rule Dillard, 19, of Shirley, were not injured, police added. 

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the Sixth Squad in Selden at 631-854-8652.
