RONKONKOMA, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — As families decide what their summer vacation plans may include amid the pandemic, Frontier Airlines is adding new routes between Long Island and Florida. The airline will also begin an extra health safety measure next week.
Today, Frontier Airlines announced two new routes from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Ronkonkoma. The new routes will provide nonstop service to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) in West Palm Beach. As part of launching the new routes, Frontier is offering fares as low as $49, which are available now at FlyFrontier.com.
Frontier also announced it will be the first U.S. airline to implement mandatory temperature screenings for passengers and employees beginning this Monday, June 1. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher will be denied boarding as a step to better protect other passengers while flying, the airline said. In April, Frontier announced all passengers and employees must wear face coverings throughout every flight. Regarding new health safety measures across the entire airport, OnSachem reported earlier this month that MacArthur Airport was the first airport to launch innovative technology to sanitize terminal areas.
“We’re excited to expand Frontier’s service at Long Island MacArthur Airport with new summer nonstop flights to two world-class beach destinations, and six nonstop destinations in total from ISP this July,” said Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President of Commercial for Frontier Airlines. “Frontier has been at the forefront in implementing numerous measures to support passenger well-being in-flight and we are seeing a strong uptick in summer travel demand. We anticipate these new routes to two of the most popular beach destinations in Florida will be in high demand as family and friends seek affordable domestic summer travel options,” he added.
Service to Fort Myers begins June 27 and service to West Palm Beach begins July 1. Flights for both destinations will be scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The introductory fare is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, according to Frontier.
The airline said the added service is seasonal and that the frequency and times are subject to change.
