Topgolf Makes It Official: First NYS Location Will be Holtsville

HOLTSVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Topgolf has made it official with a formal announcement this week. The company will open its first New York State location in Holtsville.

The news of Topgolf’s arrival has not been a secret. As OnSachem was first to report on Sept. 16, the Town of Brookhaven Planning Board approved the company’s plans to build a golf, restaurant and bar complex.

The location for the new Topgolf is a nearly 27-acre site along the north side of the Long Island Expressway west of Morris Avenue. The property is located between Zebra Technologies to the west and Cheap Sam’s Plant Bargains to the east. The land had been wooded and undeveloped until construction began recently. The project included clearing the trees.

Homes along Lakeside Drive in Holtsville are next to the site. During an earlier Planning Board Meeting on Aug. 19 which included a public hearing for the project, homeowners from Lakeside Drive appealed to the Planning Board to decline the project, saying it would disrupt the community, generate noise with music from the rooftop restaurant, be an eyesore with the golf netting poles extending up to 170 feet tall, cause traffic concerns in the residential area along Morris Avenue and possibly have drunk drivers leaving the complex.

Several of those homeowners came to the subsequent Planning Board meeting on Sept.16 for the vote and told OnSachem they were disappointed by the board’s approval.

Topgolf officially announced the Holtsville project this week and said it plans to open the complex in early 2021.

Topgolf Announces First Venue to Open in New York State

Holtsville location to bring innovative entertainment experience and jobs to Long Island

Topgolf Entertainment Group, a global sports and entertainment community, will open a new entertainment venue to residents of Suffolk County and beyond early next year. Nestled along the Long Island Expressway in Brookhaven Township, Topgolf Holtsville will not only bring an innovative experience, but is also expected to bring approximately 500 careers to the area.

Guests of the new three-level Topgolf venue will soon experience a tech-driven place to play through point-scoring games in the venue’s 102 bays, seasonal chef-driven menu items, top-shelf drinks, live music and year-round programming for all ages in a climate-controlled outdoor space. Additionally, Topgolf Holtsville will offer private event rooms for corporate meetings, celebrations and more.

“Topgolf’s mission centers around building and connecting communities and we have been working very hard with the Suffolk County community to design a custom venue that fits their needs including added vegetation, updated fencing and more,” said Topgolf Chief Executive Officer Dolf Berle. “We’re looking forward to not only entertaining Guests here, but also being a good neighbor to the community through volunteer projects, fundraising efforts and other events geared toward giving back to local organizations. We truly can’t wait to open our first venue here in the state of New York.”

As a rapidly growing sports and entertainment brand with a vibrant community of fans, Topgolf is credited with helping introduce new players to the game of golf through its variety of technology-driven experiences. Its venue environment is lively, fun and non-intimidating, and all the equipment that guests need to play is provided at no extra cost. Topgolf Holtsville will offer year-round golf lessons, taught by a professional, that range in packages specially designed by age and skill-level.

Topgolf officially broke ground on the new venue last month. Fans can also visit Topgolf’s existing venues nearby in Edison and Mount Laurel in New Jersey, or Topgolf can be played 24/7 on any mobile device with the free World Golf Tour (WGT) by Topgolf app, the world’s leading realistic digital golf game.
