HOLBROOK, NY (Stacker / OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — For 37 out of 50 states and D.C., the week ending Nov. 19 has seen the most reported COVID-19 cases of any week so far in the pandemic. Stacker analyzed data from the COVID Tracking Project to determine each state’s worst COVID-19 week since the pandemic began.
Locally in New York state, the impact of COVID-19 peaked early. The state's sharpest increase in positive cases was April 3 to 9 with 67,556 new cases, or 344 per 100,000 people. The following week, from April 10 to 16, saw the state's biggest increase in COVID-19 deaths as 5,125 people died.
