ACROSS SACHEM, NY ( / — New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced major crowd-control measures because of coronavirus.

"We are taking new actions to reduce the density of people across the state," Cuomo wrote on Twitter.

Starting Friday at 5 p.m, gatherings with 500 people or more will not be permitted in New York State. In addition, for facilities with an occupancy of 500 or fewer, the state is reducing the legal capacity by 50%.

According to Newsday, these limits do not apply to mass transit, schools, hospitals and nursing homes.
