NY professional sports can begin spring training today: Cuomo

WANTAGH, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — New York professional sports are back, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced early this afternoon.

Shortly after saying that Long Island is on track to begin its economic reopening this Wednesday (read story here), Cuomo announced New York professional sports leagues can begin spring training camps effective immediately following health protocols.

"I believe that sports that can come back without having people in the stadium, without having people in the arena, do it. Do it," Cuomo said during his Sunday briefing at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh.

"Work out the economics, if you can. We want you up. We want people to be able to watch sports to the extent that people are still staying home. It gives people something to do," Cuomo said.
