Breaking News - Coronavirus

ACROSS SACHEM, NY ( / — President Donald Trump said earlier on Saturday that he was considering quarantining New York, New Jersey and parts of Connecticut from the rest of the nation, meaning no travel outside of the tri-state area. By 8:19 p.m., Trump announced an update on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, Trump said, "We're thinking about certain things. Some people would like to see New York quarantined because it's a hotspot. We might not have to do it, but there's a possibility that sometime today we'll do a quarantine, short-term, two weeks on New York. Probably New Jersey, certain parts of Connecticut."

Tonight, shortly after 8:30 p.m., Trump announced in updates on Twitter, "On the recommendation of the White House CoronaVirus Task Force, and upon consultation with the Governor’s of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, I have asked the @CDCgov to issue a strong Travel Advisory, to be administered by the Governors, in consultation with the Federal Government. A quarantine will not be necessary. Full details will be released by CDC tonight. Thank you!"

At 9 p.m. on FOX News Channel, Deborah Birx, White House coronavirus task force coordinator, said there is a significant amount of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Suffolk County, as well as Nassau County and New York City.
