Early voting begins Saturday, Oct. 24

FARMINGVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Voters will have plenty of time to head to the polls for the November general election. Early voting begins Saturday, Oct. 24, and continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, ahead of Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.

This is the second consecutive year early voting will be held in New York State. In early 2019, the New York State Legislature and Governor Andrew Cuomo approved early voting. As OnSachem News reported from outside the early voting location in Farmingville last year, voters welcomed the flexibility to head to the polls earlier than in years past.

Early Voting and COVID-19

This year, voters may use early voting as an opportunity to avoid the possibility of crowded polling places on Election Day amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Suffolk County Board of Elections, everyone must wear a mask/face covering and maintain six feet of distance when entering any Board of Elections facility or voting poll site.

“Early voting locations throughout Suffolk County...will be clean, safe and secure,” according to the Board of Elections. “Booths, privacy sleeves and pens will be continuously sanitized.”
