LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY ( / — The race for New York’s U.S. Congressional District 1 is a two-way race with incumbent Lee Zeldin on the Republican, Conservative, and Independence lines challenged by Nancy Goroff as the Democratic and Working Families candidate. Zeldin has represented the district since 2015.

The Lake Ronkonkoma Civic Organization and Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce invited candidates for races representing the local area to Meet-the-Candidates night on Oct. 8 to talk with members and the public. Chamber President Kevin Hyms and Civic President Dawn Hopkins moderated the event.

Zeldin attended but Goroff did not. OnSachem News brings you the opening remarks and questions and answers for each candidate that attended in their entirety. Here is Zeldin’s session.
