HOLBROOK AND LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — The eight-day celebration of Hanukkah began the evening of Sunday, Dec. 22.

Communities throughout the Sachem area began celebrating with outdoor menorah lighting gatherings in Holbrook and Lake Ronkonkoma.

The evening’s celebrations began at 6 p.m. when the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce led its annual menorah lighting. The Holbrook menorah is on the lawn adjacent to The Coste Agency at 1000 Main St., across the street from Chase Bank.

Little Mr. and Miss Holbrook—Laim Wolters and Adriana Landkammer—assisted Chamber President Rick Ammirati with lighting the menorah.

An hour later at 7 p.m., the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual menorah lighting at Raynor Beach County Park on Ronkonkoma Avenue in Lake Ronkonkoma. The menorah is located at the front of the park.

Families, religious leaders, members of the Holbrook and Ronkonkoma chambers, and elected officials attended, including New York State Assemblyman Doug Smith and Suffolk County Legislator-Elect Anthony Piccirillo attending both ceremonies.
