LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY ( / — On the day Sachem and beyond said goodbye to Matt "Dezy" DiStefano during his funeral service this morning, a Sachem PTA used their annual fundraiser tonight for an extra special cause.

The Hiawatha Elementary School PTA held its annual auction this evening, Friday, Jan. 31, at the school in Lake Ronkonkoma. As part of the event, the PTA conducted a special 50-50 raffle in which all the proceeds will benefit the DezyStrong Foundation. The foundation provides “the opportunity for individuals with cancer to have access to experiences that directly affect a positive mental well-being,” according to the foundation’s website.

Sachem’s PTA’s are known for giving in many ways to their schools and the students in attendance. The Hiawatha event tonight will benefit field trips and other events at the school through the basket auction.

OnSachem received a firsthand look. There are many, many great baskets, including an American Girl doll, gift cards, Apple iPad, Apple Watch, Michael Kors bag, Hot Wheels, a smart television, Disney trips, a Ninja coffee maker, a gaming chair, and much, much more.

OnSachem also has this special video from Jacqueline Lubicich, the PTA treasurer.
