Leg. Caracappa names Marisa Pizza of Farmingville ‘Woman of Distinction’

FARMINGVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Marisa Pizza of Farmingville has been named a Woman of Distinction by the Suffolk County Legislature for Women’s History Month.

Legislator Nick Caracappa, R-Selden, of the 4th District selected Pizza for the annual honor. Every year, legislators name a Woman of Distinction for each of their 18 districts.

Caracappa said Pizza is actively involved with the Farmingville Residents Association and Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce, working diligently to improve the quality of life.

“I’ve never met a person who does so much for her community, and so willing to work with everybody,” Caracappa said. “I consider it an honor and privilege to recognize her as the Woman of Distinction in the 4th District, and thank her for all of her selfless efforts.”

Since 2011, Pizza has been recording secretary on the Executive Board of the Brookhaven Chambers of Commerce Coalition, being awarded Member of the Year for 2020. Pizza joined Move to Amend Brookhaven in 2012 and currently serves as public relations coordinator. She sits on the women and youth advisory boards for the Town of Brookhaven and is vice-chair of the Green Party of Suffolk County.

“I enjoy working with everyone across Suffolk County, no matter their affiliations or lack thereof,” Pizza said.         

When she is not engaged in community volunteering, Pizza works at Long Island Feline Adoption Center in Smithtown as the event coordinator. Additionally, she is news director for “Graveyard Blues & Roots Radio,” a program airing on 94.3 “The Shark” locally, and stations in Kansas City and the United Kingdom.

Caracappa presented Pizza with a proclamation and bouquet to commemorate the honor.

The Fourth Legislative District Caracappa represents includes Centereach, Farmingville, Lake Ronkonkoma, Selden, and parts of Coram, Holbrook, Holtsville, and Port Jefferson Station.
