Lynwood Third Grader Leads Fundraiser to Help Schoolmates in Need

Third grade student Molly McHenry recently developed a fundraiser to benefit students in her school community.

FARMINGVILLE, NY — Lynwood Avenue Elementary School third grade student Molly McHenry recently brought an idea to reality as she developed a fundraiser to benefit students in her school community.

Molly brought her idea to the school social worker, Cathy Rafferty, to raise $1,000 through a coin drive to purchase 50 new backpacks full of school supplies for Lynwood students in need. Molly created and distributed flyers to spread awareness of her goal to collect funds for the backpacks.

Through Molly’s incredible efforts, she donated 25 backpacks full of school supplies this September.
