Free Narcan Overdose Prevention Training and Take-home Kit

HOLBROOK, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — It can happen to someone you love, and you may only have minutes to help save their life. Drug overdoses claim many lives, but there are ways you can help prevent a death.

Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, Suffolk County Emergency Medical Services, and the Holtsville Fire Department will host free Narcan Overdose Prevention Training.

Narcan can treat a narcotic overdose in an emergency.

The training will be held Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. The program will take place at Holtsville Fire Department at 1025 Waverly Ave. in Holtsville.

This approximately one-hour class will consist of a presentation that discusses the opioid epidemic, the risk factors for opioid addiction and overdose, and how to recognize and respond to a suspected opioid overdose.

All attendees will receive a naloxone (Narcan) emergency kit at the end of the program.

Space is limited. RSVP by emailing LegislatorAnthonyPiccirillo@gmail.com.
