Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Holbrook Car Crash, Police Say

HOLBROOK, NY — Suffolk Police detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Holbrook last night, Monday, Nov. 4.

According to police, a car struck a pedestrian in the road at 6:14 p.m. in front of 1135 Coates Ave., just north of Roberts Street.

Police said Hally Smith, 62, of Mt. Sinai, was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue northbound on Coates Avenue when she hit the pedestrian, Joseph Zuniga, 31, of Oyster Bay.

Holbrook Ambulance took Zungia to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Smith was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
