LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — Suffolk County Police announced today, Dec. 6, the arrest of a man at the LIRR Ronkonkoma station allegedly involved in a causing a mass panic at Walmart.
Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers arrested Marcquis Graham, 24, at the train station yesterday, Dec. 5, following a lengthy investigation for the incident that occurred in December 2018.
Graham resides in Philadelphia but was on Long Island. Police did not state why he was in the area. He was charged with Riot 2nd Degree, Unlawful Assembly, Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
According to police, five males staged a violent altercation at Walmart, located at 85 Crooked Hill Rd. in Commack, on Dec. 2, 2018. During the incident, they yelled about a shooting while producing a prank video to post on social media for shock value, police said. The incident created mass panic throughout the store.
Graham was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip today.
Graham has been the only individual arrested to date for alleged involvement. The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
