Wanted for burglarizing BP in Lake Ronkonkoma: Suffolk Police

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Police want to identify and find the unknown man that allegedly smashed the front door of BP gas station in Lake Ronkonkoma to steal hundreds of dollars’ worth of cigarettes.

The service station is located at 271 Portion Rd., at the intersection with Cleary Road and Foster Road, across the street from Giunta's Meat Farms and Checkers Drive-In.

In a Crime Stoppers Alert released Thursday, the Suffolk County Police Department said the break-in occurred Saturday, Jan. 23, at about 5:25 a.m. before the gas station opened for the day.

According to police, the man allegedly tossed a rock through the front glass door and entered the business. Once inside, he allegedly stole approximately $400 worth of cigarettes before fleeing on a bicycle, police said.

The man appeared to be wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, gray winter jacket, gray pants, black gloves, and sneakers, according to police based on the security camera images.
