Nominations Being Accepted for Black History Celebration 2020

HOLBROOK, NY, AND TOWN OF ISLIP, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — The Town of Islip is accepting nominations until this Wednesday for the 2020 celebration of Black History.

The Town of Islip will celebrate Black History in February by honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to the Islip community, and live or work in the Town of Islip. The celebration will take place at the February Town Board Meeting.

To nominate a community member, nomination forms must be submitted by Jan. 15. The forms and category list can be downloaded at https://islipny.gov/alerts/431-nominations-open-for-2020-black-history-celebration.

Applications can be mailed to the Department of Parks & Recreation, Attn: Special Events, 50 Irish Lane, East Islip, NY 11730, faxed to (631) 224-5316, or e-mailed to specialevents@islipny.gov. In addition, a short biography, resume and letters of recommendation must be attached to the nomination form.

Honorees will be selected based on their accomplishments and contributions to the Town of Islip Community.
