This Saturday: Discard old medications and donate canned foods

OAKDALE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — One way to help prevent drug abuse is the safe disposal of prescriptions and other medications that are no longer needed.

A medication disposal program will take place Saturday, Nov. 21, in Oakdale. Unused and unwanted medications will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church located at 1 Berard Blvd, which is at the intersection of Montauk Hwy (Route 27A).

Also at the event, canned foods will be accepted for those in need.

Connetquot Cares Coalition leads the program in coordination with YMCA Family Services Prevention Resource Center.
