ACROSS SACHEM, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Earlier today, the National Weather Service forecasted the possibility of back-to-back severe thunderstorms as early as 2 p.m. The forecast even included the possibility of an isolated tornado. However, Long Island lucked out and the severe storms moved south of the region. 

Long Island will have another chance of thunderstorms this evening. Here is the detailed forecast:

A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. Partly sunny, with a steady temperature around 75. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. West wind 5 to 7 mph.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. West wind 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
