Snow and Rain

ACROSS SACHEM, NY ( / — The winter storm forecast has changed. Snowfall is expected to begin later and change to rain sooner than originally expected.

The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for our area from 10 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service office on Long Island, snow could accumulate from 2 to 4 inches. The most likely time of snow will be early- to mid-afternoon. Snow will change to rain in the evening, possibly sooner along the south shore.

Here’s the detailed weather forecast specific for the Sachem area.


Snow, mainly after 3 p.m. High near 36. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday Night

Rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet before midnight, then a chance of rain between midnight and 4 a.m. Temperature rising to around 43 by 11 p.m. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. South wind 13 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.


Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph.

Sunday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. West wind 15 to 18 mph.
