The third and final phase of returning remaining middle and high school students to in-person learning five days a week has been delayed. District Superintendent Christopher Pellettieri wrote to the Sachem Schools community on Friday, March 26, ahead of spring recess about the delay.

"As mentioned at our Board meeting on this past Wednesday night, we have decided to move our full return of grades 7, 9 and 10 to April 12th," Pellettieri wrote, delaying the originally but tentative date of April 7. "While this will be disappointing to some, it will give us a full week after the return from Spring Break and help prevent positive cases from entering our buildings."

Pellettieri added: "It will also cut down dramatically on potential quarantines which have spiked after prior returns from extended breaks."

Grades 6, 8, 11, and 12 have already returned full time.
