COVID-19 positives soared past 400 in Sachem Schools, 26 new infections since Friday

FARMINGVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — COVID-19 positives soared well past the 400-mark in Sachem Schools as another 26 cases came in over the past three days. The greatest numbers of new infections were listed for Sachem High School East in Farmingville, Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma, and Sagamore Middle School in Holtsville.

The 26 positives were for the period between Saturday, Jan. 9, and Monday, Jan. 11. The cumulative number of COVID-19 positives now stands at 419 across Sachem Central School District since the academic year started in September.

COVID-19 Cases for Each School

Here is the latest data from the state and school district as of Monday, Jan. 11, which was released on Tuesday, Jan. 12:

Sachem Elementary Schools 

• Cayuga Elementary School in Lake Grove – 11 cases, up 0 (8 students, 3 teachers/staff)

• Chippewa Elementary School in Holtsville – 14 cases, up 0 (11 students, 3 teachers/staff)

• Grundy Avenue Elementary School in Holbrook – 16 cases, up 1 (14 students, 2 teacher/staff)

• Hiawatha Elementary School in Lake Ronkonkoma – 20 cases, up 0 (15 students, 5 teachers/staff)

• Lynwood Avenue Elementary School in Farmingville – 12 cases, up 1 (9 students, 3 teachers/staff)

• Merrimac Elementary School in Holbrook – 11 cases, up 0 (10 students, 1 teacher/staff)

• Tamarac Elementary School in Holtsville – 17 cases, up 1 (12 students, 5 teachers/staff)

• Waverly Avenue Elementary School in Holtsville – 16 cases, up 0 (12 students, 4 teachers/staff)

• Wenonah Elementary School in Lake Grove – 15 cases, up 1 (8 students, 7 teachers/staff)

Sachem Middle Schools

• Sagamore Middle School in Holtsville – 27 cases, up 4 (16 students including 4 off-site students, 11 teachers/staff)

• Samoset Middle School in Lake Ronkonkoma – 21 cases, up 1 (13 students including 1 off-site student, 8 teachers/staff)

• Seneca Middle School in Holbrook – 35 cases, up 0 (25 students including 4 off-site students, 10 teachers/staff)

Sachem High Schools

• Sachem High School East in Farmingville – 78 cases, up 8 (69 students including 3 off-site students, 9 teachers/staff)

• Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma – 105 cases, up 7 (89 students including 14 off-site students, 16 teachers/staff)
