‘Straight Outta Quaran-Teen’ to help students as school year begins

FARMINGVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Attention Sachem parents! With the COVID-19 pandemic posing new challenges as students return to school, the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau will lead a new program called "Straight Outta Quaran-Teen” for students from 12 to 16 years old. Registration is underway.

The virtual discussions will take place Mondays from 3 to 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 21 and continue through Oct. 26. Counseling staff will lead each session.

“The concept behind the program is to engage students in an open dialogue about the new challenges they face this school year,” according to the town’s announcement.

The following sessions will take place:

● Sept. 21 – Masks-on/Masks-off

● Sept. 28 – Social Distancing Vibes

● Oct. 5 – iTune Out Drugs

● Oct. 19 – Eat, Sleep, Log-on, Repeat

There will not a session on Oct. 12 because of Columbus Day.

Students can sign up for any or all the episodes by contacting the Brookhaven Youth Bureau online or calling 631-451-8011. After registering for the program, a Zoom link will be emailed to the participants.
