Sachem appoints a familiar face to principal of Tamarac Elementary School in Holtsville

Sachem Central School District Board of Education officially appointed Dr. Brenda Almendarez-DeBello as principal of Tamarac Elementary School in Holtsville.

HOLTSVILLE, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Sachem Central School District has appointed Dr. Brenda Almendarez-DeBello as principal of Tamarac Elementary School in Holtsville.

Almendarez-DeBello was named principal during the Jan. 6 meeting of the Board of Education. She previously joined Tamarac as interim principal after most recently serving as an assistant principal at Sachem High School East in Farmingville since 2017.

“Dr. Almendarez-DeBello has served as our interim principal at Tamarac since the beginning of this school year and has proven herself time and time again as an outstanding leader and educator,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Pellettieri. “I trust you will join me in congratulating her in her official new capacity.”

Before joining Sachem, Almendarez-DeBello served as an administrative intern and a bilingual mathematics teacher in the Uniondale Union Free School District at the Lawrence Road Middle School for five years. Prior to this, she taught mathematics for eight years at Intermediate School 93 for the New York City Department of Education.

Almendarez-DeBello received her bachelor's degree in psychology from University at Albany, formerly the State University of New York at Albany, and her master's degree in education from St. John’s University, where she also completed an advanced certificate in school building leadership and received her Doctor of Education degree in educational administration and supervision in 2019.
