Sachem student selected for prestigious NASA program

Sachem High School North sophomore Paul Sangiorgio has been accepted to attend the NASA Summer Internship Program.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY (OnSachem.com / OnTownMedia.com) — Sachem High School North sophomore Paul Sangiorgio has been accepted to attend the NASA Summer Internship Program.

Sangiorgio was selected to attend this prestigious program after finishing in the top 9% of 600 applicants from around the country.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, this summer’s program will take place online. To ensure the internship eventually included in-person experiences, NASA has automatically accepted Sangiorgio to attend the program at the Texas campus in 2021.

NASA internships and fellowships leverage NASA’s unique missions and programs to enhance and increase the capability, diversity and size of the nation’s future science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce. Internships are available from high school to graduate level. Internships provide students with the opportunity to participate in either research or other experiential learning, under the guidance of a mentor at NASA.

Sachem High School North is located at 212 Smith Road in Lake Ronkonkoma. The school is part of the Sachem Central School District.
